How to Use
Place the applicator on a perfectly flat test surface. Adjust the squeegee so that the required gap is twice the amount of wet film thickness required.
In front of the applicator, pour a small amount of test sample onto the end plate at a slow, even rate of about 1-2 cm per second.
Move the instrument over the surface until all of the liquid has been applied and or any remaining liquid has been removed from the end of the coating path.
The exact ratio of wet film thickness to any coater gap depends on the material used, the viscosity and texture of the liquid.
The actual wet film to be applied should be adjusted to your desired thickness using a thickness gauge to adjust the gap.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I set the initial gap on the applicator?
You should place the applicator on a perfectly flat test surface and adjust the squeegee so that the gap is set to twice the size of your required wet film thickness.
What is the recommended speed for pouring the sample?
It is recommended to pour a small amount of the test sample onto the end plate at a slow, even rate of approximately 1 to 2 cm per second.
How far should I move the instrument during application?
Move the instrument continuously over the surface until all liquid has been applied or any excess liquid has been cleared from the end of the coating path.
Why does the wet film thickness not match the gap size exactly?
The exact ratio between the wet film thickness and the coater gap is not fixed. It depends heavily on the properties of the material used, including the liquid's viscosity and texture.
How can I ensure the applied wet film is at the exact desired thickness?
You should verify the actual thickness of the applied wet film using a thickness gauge, and then make fine adjustments to the gap setting based on those measurements.
